Dr Ana Stevenson is a historian whose research brings transnational perspectives to the history of feminism and social movements in the United States, Australia, and South Africa. Her teaching experience spans history, the humanities, and academic, digital, and critical literacies, while her interdisciplinary research also encompasses feminist theory and literary, media, and cultural studies. Dr Stevenson co-founded VIDA: Blog of the Australian Women’s History Network (est. 2016), with Dr Alana Piper, and remains a Managing Editor with Dr Paige Donaghy (The University of Melbourne). She is also the co-convener of a digital humanities initiative and digital archive, The Suffrage Postcard Project (est. 2015), with Associate Professor Kristin Allukian (University of South Florida). Her 2018 journal article in the Pacific Historical Review was awarded the 2019 W. Turrentine Jackson (Article) Prize by the Pacific Coast Branch of the American Historical Association and the 2019 Covert Award in Mass Communication History by the History Division, Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Since 2021, Dr Stevenson has been a Research Fellow in the International Studies Group at the University of the Free State, South Africa. In 2022, South Africa's National Research Foundation recognised her as Y1: Promising Young Researcher. Currently, Dr Stevenson is a Chief Investigator on the Australian Research Council 2023-26 Discovery Project, Archiving Social Movements & Building Historical Literacy for a Digital Age (ARC DP230100875), with Professor Sharon Crozier-De Rosa (University of Wollongong), Emeritus Senior Professor Vera Mackie (University of Wollongong), and Distinguished Professor Andrea Witcomb (Deakin University).
