Biography

• Ann Dashwood is a researcher and teacher in Applied Linguistics specifically in TESOL and applied language with studies in teacher talk and intercultural communication. Her research interests involve language exchanges between teacher and additional language learners including pragmatic language awareness, translanguaging, transnational education and intercultural awareness for community capacity building. CALD studies of adults use of English, Early Years and families’ needs, and supervision of international students’ research. Her secondary school teaching experience in a State education system and in Independent schools in Queensland, Victoria and overseas included languages teaching, ESL and school leadership experience preceding involvement with International students’ academic English needs in the Higher Education sector. Currently the Australian Curriculum Languages is the focus of her pre-service teacher education.
