I am a Senior Lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). I have a background in psychology, focusing on the psychophysiology of sleepiness, arousal, cognition as well as behavioural performance and the overlapping areas of neuropsychology, cognitive psychology, attention, and sleep health.
I have broad experience within the field of sleep and sleepiness (both clinical and behavioural), including its measurement, influencing factors, and associated health and mental health outcomes. Subsequently, my research focuses on the effects of sleep deprivation and poor sleep habits on cognitive functions, mental health, and more broadly, general wellbeing.
I have extensive expertise in the area of sleepy/fatigued driving, including effective countermeasures for sleepiness and fatigue, such as napping and rest breaks. I also have research experience with other impaired and risky driving behaviours and with the application of traffic psychology.
