Biography

Dr Ekta Sharma is an early career research academic at the School of Mathematics, Physics and Computing. She is deeply committed to STEMM, particularly Mathematics and Technology, and to promoting greater representation of women in these fields. Her experience spans Asia, Europe, and Australia. She holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (AI). She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, reflecting her commitment to higher education teaching. Her bachelor's and dual master's degrees in operations research and mathematical sciences enable her to implement AI processes effectively and sustainably. She has developed data-driven solutions for the Australian Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), the Office of National Intelligence (ONI), the Bureau of Meteorology, Swiss Telecom, and Universities, including the University of Delhi, India and Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland, before joining UniSQ. She is also an author and an artificial intelligence (AI) researcher in atmospheric (air quality) and space satellite sustainability. She has authored seven non-profit books so far, launched globally on International Women’s Day since 2018, and focused on empowering women and promoting gender diversity.
