Dr Fahim Ullah is the Program Director for Construction Programs and a Senior Lecturer in Construction Project Management at the School of Surveying and Built Environment (SoSBE), University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ), Australia. Internationally recognised among the world’s top 0.5% (2024 ScholarGPS) and top 2% (2022–2025 Elsevier/Stanford) research scientists, he ranks among the top 20 global researchers in Building and Construction and is the highest-performing Queensland-based academic whose research career commenced after 2016.
Dr Ullah holds a PhD in Construction Management from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and has held academic appointments at UNSW, the University of Sydney, and the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) before joining UniSQ. Since 2024, he has also served as HDR Coordinator at SoSBE, leading research governance, supervision quality, and doctoral progression across the School. His scholarly and administrative leadership extends across multiple committees, including roles as Chair of the School Research Committee and member of the Learning & Teaching, Outreach & Engagement, and Internationalisation Committees.
An active researcher with over 100 peer-reviewed outputs (more than 70 in Q1 journals), Dr Ullah’s work explores digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, smart cities, and the integration of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 technologies in construction and project management. His publications have been recognised with six Editor’s Choice Awards, three Featured Papers, and multiple Best Paper Awards (AUBEA, ICEC). He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the InfraTech Journal of Sustainable Architecture and Civil Engineering and as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Built Environment (Q1), Management, Procurement and Law (Emerald/ICE, Q2), and the Journal of Building Design and Environment.
Dr Ullah has demonstrated sustained research leadership through the supervision of over 35 research students, including PhDs, Masters, and Honours projects, and has successfully mentored postdoctoral fellows. He has secured and led competitive grants. His international collaborations span 30+ institutions across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe, the USA, the UAE, and Asia.
A recipient of UniSQ’s 2024 Stellar Award for Teaching Excellence, Dr Ullah is widely recognised for his pedagogical innovation and curriculum design. As Program Director, he has led major program reviews, professional accreditations (AIB, RICS), and strategic partnerships with industry and government, resulting in improved student outcomes, stronger industry integration, and enhanced graduate employability.
Before entering academia, Dr Ullah gained professional experience as Assistant Manager (Planning) at Bin Nadeem Associates and as Planning Engineer at Malik Abdul Hanan & Sons, where he contributed to large-scale infrastructure developments, including Pakistan’s M2 Motorway project.
