Geraldine is a Lecturer in Clinical Education and Third Year Coordinator in the Bachelor of Nursing program at the University of Southern Queensland (Toowoomba Campus). She has over 32 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research, with a specialist background in Paediatric and Child Health Nursing across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia. She also specialised in critical care nursing and retrieval nursing, further strengthening her clinical expertise in high acuity and complex care environments.

Geraldine’s academic and clinical expertise encompasses undergraduate nursing education, clinical supervision, and workforce preparation. Her teaching is strongly informed by extensive clinical experience and a commitment to evidence based practice, student engagement, and high quality clinical learning environments.

In recognition of her emerging research leadership and contribution to nursing scholarship, Geraldine was a successful recipient of the Australian College of Nursing Foundation – Emerging Research Leader Program scholarship (2026). She is a member of the Queensland Rural Health Innovation and Research Collaboration (QRHIRC) and the Children’s Inpatient Research Collaboration of Australia and New Zealand (CIRCAN). Her research interests include clinical education, paediatric nursing, student preparedness for practice, and strengthening the transition from education to the healthcare workforce.
