I am a Professor of Aviation in the School of Business, Law, Humanities and Pathways. I hold a PhD in Aviation Management from Massey University (2013) and bring over five years of professional experience in the aviation industry, along with prior academic roles at the University of South Australia.

My research spans aviation, tourism, and economics, with 70 peer-reviewed journal articles published in leading journals such as Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Transportation Research Part A, Urban Studies, Regional Studies, Transport Policy, and Journal of Cleaner Production—ranked Q1 and A*/A on the ABDC list and featured in Shanghai 219 or FT50.

I have received the Early Career Research Award (2015) and the College Research Award for Supervision (2022) from Massey University. I have led research projects as Principal Investigator and advised government and airport stakeholders. I am a Doctoral Supervisor, with a supervision record that includes seven PhD completions and more than ten Master’s students. I also hosted visiting scholars through the China Scholarship Council and supervising PhD student through the Cotutelle Scholarship Scheme.

I am Editor for Case Studies Transport Policy, Handling Editor for Transport Research Record, Guest Editor for Issues in Tourism and Research in Transportation Business & Management, and Editorial Board member for Journal of International Logistics and Trade.

I have a strong interest in exploring the aviation-related issues, with particular emphasis on:
