I have have been a senior lecturer in accounting at UniSQ for seven years. My teaching and research philosophy is, “The professional accountant: the skills/qualities they need and their work environment”. The professional accountant can be described as having integrity, being a leader, an analyst, a strategist, knowledgeable, an achiever and a communicator. My published research continues this theme by investigating the professional skills required of accountants and considers how to incorporate these competencies into the curriculum. Other published research on the working lives of accountants complements my educational focused research as it provides further insights into the professional accountant.
