Dr Nadeesha Chandrasena is an urban planner, environmental consultant, and inventor specialising in sustainable urban infrastructure, stormwater management, and smart-city solutions. She holds a PhD in Civil Engineering and has multidisciplinary expertise in urban planning, water management, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure innovation. She is the inventor of Smart Drain, an award-winning technology designed to improve urban drainage performance through waste interception, real-time monitoring, and data-driven maintenance. Her innovation has received international recognition, including the WIPO Global Award 2025 and the Australian Good Design Award 2024 – Best in Class. Her research interests focus on translating emerging technologies and environmental research into practical solutions for resilient, sustainable, and climate-adaptive cities.
