Professor Pauline Calleja is Head of School and Dean, Nursing and Midwifery, and an experienced nursing academic, clinician, researcher and executive leader. Her career spans more than two decades across higher education and healthcare in Australia and internationally.
Professor Calleja’s expertise encompasses nursing and midwifery education, rural and remote health, workforce development, curriculum innovation, accreditation and research leadership. She maintains an active connection to clinical practice in rural and remote healthcare, which informs her approach to education, research and workforce development. Professor Calleja is committed to collaborative, industry-engaged education and research that responds to contemporary healthcare challenges.
Her research focuses on rural and remote health workforce development, nursing education, transition to practice, and translating evidence into practice and policy. She works closely with health services, government, professional organisations and communities, with a particular interest in strengthening workforce capability and improving healthcare and education outcomes for regional, rural and remote communities.
