Dr. Sayma Shammi is a Research Fellow in Agricultural Technology at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. She completed her PhD at Murdoch University, where her research focused on using machine learning and infrared thermal imagery for early frost detection in crops. Prior to joining USQ, Dr. Shammi contributed to industry and academic projects, particularly in the field of digital agriculture. Her research interests span artificial intelligence, machine learning, agricultural technology and climate resilience. Dr. Shammi has received recognition for her work, including the prestigious ACS 1962 Medal for the most outstanding doctoral research in Information Technology and Computer Science (2023-2024). She was also the recipient of the Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medal from North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, awarded for achieving the highest grade in her cohort.
