Tarryn Kille commenced her aviation career as a professional pilot and flight instructor. Whilst working in General Aviation, she complimented her technical qualifications with an undergraduate degree in Aviation at Curtin University. Awarded an Advanced Flying Scholarship from the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators and after completing a Master of Business Administration, majoring in Aviation Management, Tarryn decided to pursue a career in management and training within the aviation industry. She has held various roles with a number of organizations from General Aviation charter operators and flight schools to full service and low cost airlines. Prior to joining USQ as a Senior Lecturer in USQ Aviation, Tarryn held the role as Director, Aviation Undergraduate Studies at Griffith University. Tarryn held a senior management position as Manager, Policy and Business Development within the Air Transport Operations Group of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Tarryn has also held a position as a member of the Operations Panel with the International Civil Aviation Organization. Tarryn completed her PhD which focussed on the economic sustainability of Australian regional aviation.
Tarryn’s research has focussed on blended and online tertiary education in an effort to create interactive learning, and skill development opportunities for students working in rural, remote and regional locations. Tarryn has also extended her education research into the field of capacity building by investigating the training motivations and behaviours of young people seeking to enhance their employability skills after suffering significant career challenges or facing industries experiencing job shortages. Her research has been translated into practical actions that intend to advise educational institutions, policy makers and young people through targeted capacity, skill and resilience building strategies.
