Venkata Chevali's research focuses on the design, processing, and development of advanced materials at the interface of materials science, macromolecular chemistry, and chemical engineering. Through the use of new manufacturing paradigms, the extremes of physical manufacturability are being explored. Over the last decade, his research has conceptualised expediting production of thermoplastic composites, fire retardant composites, and sustainable polymer composites. Several aspects of nanoengineering are addressed, including synergizing flame retardants, nanoreinforcements at fiber/polymer interfaces, molecular dynamics of atomistic phenomena, and characterization of rare and anomalous phenomena in advanced materials of various types. Having worked with key industrial stakeholders to research, scale up, and commercialize innovative composite materials, Dr Chevali brings considerable experience in the field.

Dr. Chevali is currently serving as Chief Investigator of the Australian Research Council Discovery Project (DP230103008), the Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment, and Facilities (LE230100179), and the Sustainable Industry Manufacturing Planning for Long-term Ecosystems (SIMPLE) Hub. International collaborators of Dr Chevali include the Governor's Chair in Advanced Composites Manufacturing Prof Uday K Vaidya (University of Tennessee, Knoxville), Sebastian Spierling (Leibniz University, Hannover), and ExxonMobil Employees Endowed Chair Prof Srikanth Pilla (Clemson University).
