Victoria Wilson is an interdisciplinary researcher and student-centred adult educator.
Her PhD (University of Queensland) is in trauma-informed teaching of English as an additional language to adults. She has presented widely on this topic by invitation at teaching organisations and conferences in Australia, Japan, and France.
In addition, Victoria holds a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from UNE, a Bachelor of Business (Journalism) with Distinction, and a Bachelor of Business (Honours) (Communication) from QUT. She has also completed a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) from Centro de Lenguas e Intercambio Cultural (CLIC) International House in Seville, Spain.
A lifelong learner, she is currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Autism Studies at Griffith University and enrolled in a Graduate Certificate of Counselling at University of Tasmania.
Prior to joining USQ in 2014, Victoria taught English as a foreign language in Japan for seven years. She has taught and developed courses in English as an additional language since 2004, for all levels of English language learners from a wide range of linguistic backgrounds.
Over her working life, she has lived and worked in the UK, Ireland, Japan, and various cities across Australia.

Dr Victoria Wilson is an interdisciplinary critical qualitative researcher specialising in psychological trauma and communication. Her research aims to amplify the voices of marginalised groups who are often silenced and delegitimised when it comes to their own needs, experiences, and knowledge. She has a special interest in the experiences of refugee-background and international students, neurodivergent people, and female patients in the healthcare system.
