I am an early career researcher working as a lecturer at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ). My research and teaching focuses on two main interrelated strands: teacher education and the law, and human rights education. These strands focus on the importance of human rights education in the school curriculum, teacher understanding of human rights policy and law, and the accreditation of teacher education programs. These areas of research and teaching have been developed through experience in international education contexts such as Scotland and Malaysia, and my time as a law enforcement officer in Scotland. Prior to completing my PhD I have worked in leadership roles in schools in Scotland, as an Education compliance and policy adviser with the Scottish Education Department and in roles with Stirling Council. I have also worked at Canterbury Christ Church University [CCCU] (2006-2009) as Senior Lecturer, before moving to Australia to work as USQ as a casual tutor and lecturer in education while completing my PhD. I have achieved m Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
