I earned a double BSc (Science and Forestry) in Nepal, an MSc (NRM) in Thailand, where I was awarded a gold medal (GPA 4/4), and a PhD (Env. Science and Mgt) in Australia. I have over 26 years of research experience in identifying and adopting management practices that improve productivity, profitability and the sustainability of agriculture and forestry systems whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions. I have successfully completed multiple research projects in 15 different countries, funded by world-renowned donor organisations. I have published >210 publications (mostly in Q1) with co-authors from 22 different countries, which have been cited >3650 times, with a h-index of 34. Globally, I am ranked 133rd in “Forestry” and 5th in “Carbon Management”. My research has been recognized through several national and international awards/fellowships including: (1) Research Excellence Award from USQ in 2009 & 2014; (2) “Senior International Scientist” award from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2013; (3) “Climate Change Professional Fellows” award from the US State Department in 2011; (4) Queensland China Climate Change Fellowship from Queensland and Chinese Governments in 2009; (5) US National Science Foundation Fellowship 2009; and (6) First runner-up award from an Elsevier Journal (2015). I have supervised 16 PhD students to completion, serve as an editorial member for three international journals and assess PhD theses and proposals for granting bodies.
