Dr Lila Singh-Peterson is a climate change professional who has worked in the public and private sector specifically in the fields of climate change policy, sustainability, climate adaptation and climate risk. More recently, over the last fifteen years, she has lectured and undertaken research examining the societal and cultural implications of, and responses to climate change – particularly in the fields of community resilience, rural development and food security.
Dr Singh-Peterson was awarded a PhD in atmospheric science from UNSW School of Physics and CSIRO in 2007 and more recently, was awarded a PhD in socio-cultural anthropology with the University of Queensland on the topic of cultural reproduction, loss and limitations of rural social resilience traditions in Fiji. Dr Singh-Peterson has received almost $3m in research funding as a principal or co-investigator. As a trained mixed methods researcher, she has worked across the South Pacific with the United Nations and AusAID and across Australia with multiple funding partners.
In her role as Senior Lecturer of Applied Climate Science and Program Director of the Bachelor of Environmental Science, Dr Singh-Peterson currently supports several PhD and Masters students engaged in research in the fields of climate change implications, adaptation responses and policy.
